Has anyone tried to put a 3 point Log splitter on a BX2200?
I would have to somehow tap into the hydro unit on the machine. Any idea if the little BX puts out enough to run a log splitter? I am even toying with making my own with a 540 PTO rear pump.

There is a factory hydraulic block on the BX1500 that can be tapped for aux. hydraulics and the machine has plenty of power for a log splitter. ....

I did this very thing with a Massey GC2300 which I assume would have a similar hydraulic system to your Kubota. It has plenty of pressure (internal relief is around 2000psi) but with only about 6 gallons/minute available flow the ram moves slower than it would on a self-contained machine with a two stage pump. Not a big problem for me, but something to keep in mind. ....

Check your reservoir capacity. It will take about 1.3 gals of fluid to initially charge a 4" x 24" cylinder, and about .75 gals to stroke the cylinder after it is charged. Make sure you have the capacity in your system, and that you check your reservoir level after the initial charge.
Most log splitters run off 2-stage pumps, which allow high flow volumes at low pressures. This is why the stroke speed, especially retracting, would be a lot faster with a conventional set-up. ....

If you need to put a PTO hydraulic pump together you'll have about $500 into the pump, reservoir, hose and fittings. By that time you might as well buy a self contained splitter with two stage pump. The plus to that is that your tractor is then independent of the splitter.
